I’ve been thinking doing the same kinda blog with maybe 3 or 4 picks from the album I’m posting. I just love sharing the music I love with other people.

    Yeah so, link doesn’t work.

I’m planning on hitting up the midnight release of this shit at the fifth element. But I gotta get in a listen if I can.

I preordered the limited edition copy from Fifth Element and I got it in the mail today. The packaging is awesome and it came autographed by Slug. Sorry to say the album doesn’t live up to the hype. All the songs are real slow and he’s talking about some wierd shit. He also sings every chorus. Usually I can relate to their music but not on this one. I’ve been a fan of Atmosphere since 98′ and I’m sorry to say that I feel this is his weakest album. I’m not trying to deter you from purchasing this album but thought I would give you my honest opinion. I know how it is to get hyped up for an album only to be disappointed in the end. True fans of Atmosphere will still find the album entrtaining but definitely not what they expected.

yes sir the link doesn’t work.

oh and something off subject. i just recently got into this artist: busdriver, and i’ve been listening to only him for a week straight. if you don’t know him, you should listen to a couple of his albums: temporary forever, and roadkillovercoat. sorry i don’t have any online albums.

I live in Turkey, which means there isn’t any way to get a CD from US without paying a fortune to shipping. I’m dying to buy some Atmosphere stuff, you know “you can’t download a t-shirt”, but the shipping issues prevents me. I want to get Deluxe Edition but there’s no way, so i downloaded that album. Somebody please tell me i don’t have to buy a plane ticket to Minneapolis to watch Sad Clown Bad Dub #13 (:

couldn’t disagree with you more Adam. Obviously your opinion is your opinion and I’m not saying that you can’t speak it, but I’m gonna give my thoughts and maybe it could shed a lil different light on the album for you.

I’m pretty sure that anyone that has ended up posting on a blog dedicated (mostly) to Atmosphere and it’s Rhymesayers counterparts has grown with Slug and Ant from the start. Even if the fan wasn’t there from the beginning we still caught the fever and now have every damn mixtape from overcast to lemons somewhere on our computer or in our “milk crates”. That’s what I love about this album. It just shows such a growth within the boys. It’s like the evolution of Atmosphere i think, and this album shows a great deal of maturation from Slug’s lyrics to Anthony’s “drumkit”

Definitely… not the same album that we’ve come to expect from Atmosphere. It’s slowed down a lil bit more, but i dont think that has taken away anything from the rhymes. If anything this album has some of the most detailed and enjoyable story telling that I’ve ever heard from Slug. The album title is relevant in almost every song on the album. Every protagonist in each song has shit going on in their life right? With a first listen it’s just another pessimistic, narcissistic story session with Ant, but on the 2nd (and many more) listens it’s so much more. I think it’s about finding the smallest of things in negative situations and just working with it. It may not be much, but if it’s all you got, run with it… paint it gold. The transient in “waitress” gets shit all over when he’s in that cafe, but he loves getting some attention, “in her music box” talks about a less than desirable situation for a young girl driving around with her dad, but she’s happy right where she is.

I think i’m rambling at this point, but bottom line is I think that Slug started with a theme with this album, and stuck to it and Ant found beats and melodies that compliment everything to fullest. It may not have the big huge beats that Seven’s and You Can’t Imagine had, but I think this one has all the appeal just for the intricacies that become prevalent after a couple more listens.

Great driving album. Not necessarily for rolling down the windows and making your ears bleed, but just to roll and listen for you own enjoyment.

There’s my (lenghty) opinion. I’m curious to see what everyone else thinks.

Peace, and thanks to SCU for getting this up. I’m in Canada so the lim edition might be all but a dream for me, but i’m copping the disc at the toronto show tommorow night.

shiiiiit…. sorry guys….. that was way longer than i thought.. haha.. hopefully it wans’t all for nothing.

  • 15. BuddhaJ  |  April 24, 2008 at 12:40 am

You put that real well Merk, I completely agree with you, that this album doesn’t necessarily catch you with all the tracks on the first play through but every track is solid with keeping on the theme. After more listens, it all turns gold haha

  • 17. Pete  |  April 30, 2008 at 9:22 pm

hey guys i was just wondering if any of you have used the rapidshare website and gotten a premium account..i am a little skeptical about it so i want to know if its legit and worth it….as for lemons, i have only listened to it once or twice but that was enough to love it….its more mellow than you cant imagine and shows that they are still very versatile and will not fall off for awhile

  • 18. Jarle  |  May 1, 2008 at 9:59 pm

  • 27. buckshot  |  May 20, 2008 at 2:19 am

is there a way i cant upload a song here? im tryin to figure out the name of the song

  • 28. Merk  |  May 20, 2008 at 2:03 pm

you could always use http://www.rapidshare.com and upload it there and copy and paste the link into here.
Or you could create a music page on myspace (like 2 minutes to do) and put it up there and post the link. That would save people from downloading the whole song that they might already have.
Or you could just post the lyrics, or google the lyrics… that always helps.
    just a few thoughts.

that should work coopAloop. as long as you’re set up to dl torrents. I’m not sure what the strength of the torrent is (i’m at work right now) but that’s where i found them after my small ass town didn’t have any deluxe editions to buy.
